Selfridges has opened its Christmas Shop for 2026, introducing a city-inspired concept that reworks familiar urban retail formats into a series of festive environments.
Taking cues from the energy of cities including London, New York, Paris and Berlin, the Selfridges Christmas Shop incorporates references to convenience stores, newsagents, souvenir shops and bodegas. Two central storefront concepts, “Santa’s Bodega” and the “House of Souvenirs”, sit alongside hot dog carts filled with baubles, streetlamps and city-style fly posters.
The approach turns recognisable elements of the urban streetscape into part of the Christmas merchandising environment, creating a deliberately busy, metropolitan setting for Selfridges’ seasonal assortment.
Record Decoration Assortment
The 2026 shop carries a record 1,120 baubles, lights and tree decorations, the largest selection Selfridges has stocked to date. The assortment is extensive enough to decorate an 11-foot Christmas tree without repeating an ornament.
The opening comes as Selfridges reports growing early demand for festive products online, with searches for “Christmas” on selfridges.com almost 300% higher month on month.
This year’s assortment includes baubles, personalisable gifts, cards and wrapping, advent calendars, crackers, stockings, wreaths and garlands, alongside the Lemax Christmas Village.
The scale marks a further expansion of Selfridges’ seasonal offer. In 2024, 365 Retail reported on the retailer’s then-largest Christmas Shop, with more than 900 decorations. Last year’s festive programme subsequently expanded into an extensive Christmas collaboration with Disney across Selfridges stores.
Loyalty Activation Added to the Shop
From 22 September, Selfridges Unlocked members will also be able to use their membership key at the Christmas Shop to receive a token for a dedicated vending machine.
The machine will dispense Selfridges stickers featuring illustrations including a taxi, snow globe and other city-themed icons, extending the urban concept into a small loyalty-led in-store interaction.
Rollout Across Selfridges Stores
The Christmas Shop and its 2026 decoration themes are currently available at Selfridges London and Selfridges Manchester Trafford, as well as online.
Selfridges Manchester Exchange will open its Christmas Shop on 5 October, followed by Selfridges Birmingham on 12 October.
The staggered rollout extends the city-inspired seasonal concept across the retailer’s UK store estate ahead of the main Christmas trading period.
