Last year, boohooMAN launched a competition on their site running from September to October 2021 giving students the opportunity to showcase their talent by submitting a collection of their own designs. The designs were then judged by boohooMAN’s Head of Design Shane Chin.
The highly popular competition received submissions globally and after much consideration the brand narrowed it down and chose Jasmine Young as the winner. As part of her prize Jasmine’s capsule will be available to purchase on boohooMAN.com on Tuesday 3rd May 2022.
As part of the competition Jasmine won a cash prize of £2,000 and the chance to go into boohooMAN’s Head office to design her own range as well as receiving her full collection.
“At boohooMAN we thrive on creative collaborations. We had lots of strong entries for the competition but Jasmines’ project stood out to us as we felt it was on brand the most. It was cohesive from start to finish and had all key design traits; bold personality, creative flair and disruptive appeal which is exactly what we look for in designs. We’re excited to launch Jasmine’s collection as she is a great ambassador for young emerging talent. We hope to launch further design competitions in future, so would encourage any aspiring creatives to get involved. Watch this space!” – Head of Design Shane Chin
The collection itself is a spring/summer capsule inspired by the subculture of streetwear. These garments are heavily influenced through upcoming trends, abstract prints and the American rap scene.
All prints were based on illusion and check grids manipulated into distortion. These were designed through procreate but printed through print screen to create a more ombre effect.
